It’s the weekend again, so time to breathe a sigh of relief. Whether you have plans to do your laundry, catch up with family, or wind down, it’s a chance to do what you’ve missed out on during the week. Or, perhaps most importantly, you can catch up with the puzzles you may have missed over the last seven days.

Each week our Puzzles Editor, Chris Lancaster, picks out some of our best conundrums for you to enjoy; you can find these and much more by signing up to our newsletters. Here are some of the best puzzles and clues of the last working week to tease and tantalise your brain:

On Monday, our puzzle of the day was Cryptic Crossword 30,126. Don’t look now, but I think the answer to the clue of the day is staring you right in the face:

A writer from Wales, say, is Thomas (8)

Continuing with clues referring to parts of the British Isles, our pick on Tuesday was Quick Crossword 30,127. We like to hide a joke or pun in these puzzles; maybe you can decipher something from the answers to the first three across clues:

Scottish river (3); Automobile (3); Slow a vehicle (5)

Once you’ve sorted those out, hopefully you still have time for Wednesday’s favourite puzzle,  Toughie Crossword 3,006. Given that the new series of Clarkson’s Farm is now on the box, our clue of the day seems appropriate:

After swapping tips, use pronged tool for task on the farm (9)

If manual labour isn’t your forte, have a look at Thursday’s clue of the day from Cryptic Crossword 30,219 which celebrates one of my favourite party games.

Party game Annie possibly presides over (7,6)

Finally, on Friday you may have missed Cryptic Crossword 30,220. Despite what you might think the answer to the clue has nothing to do with clothing nor footwear:

Jumpers and loafers covering yard (9)

You can play all of the above puzzles and many more on our brilliant new puzzles website. There are thousands of puzzles to play for all ranges of ability and interests. It’s not just crosswords; there are also plenty of numbers games including Sudoku and Kakuro for you to sink your teeth into.

Enjoy your weekend!
